Starting today until 5th July, Canary Wharf will be hosting the first of its kind in the UK, Pop-Up Padel Tennis, in aid of the charity Action for Kids. The events include the World Padel Tour, exhibition matches, corporate competitions, school’s programme for East London schools and pay to play.

The outdoor event located in the heart of Canary Wharf at Montgomery Square is a fast-paced hybrid of tennis and squash. Originally derived from tennis, the sport has been played for over a century on a court a third the size of a normal tennis court with stringless rackets, the squash element is that the court has walls and the balls can be played off them.

The pop-up coincides with Canary Wharf’s outdoor broadcasting of the Queen’s Club AEGON Championships starting on the 19 June, getting fully into the tennis spirit, so make sure you get involved.
