The Scran & Scallie, Edinburgh

A proper 'posh' pub

A proper 'posh' pub

Victoria Broadhead

With the Michelin-starred chefs Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack behind the scenes and a splash of Scandinavia in the decor (a fleece-backed chair here, a blond-wood table there), this is more than just a boozer.
The food at Scran & Scallie reflects the team's ‘From Nature to Plate’ ethos and includes fresh, modern dishes alongside some forgotten classics such as sheep's heid scotch broth; The Scran & Scallie's traditional cottage pie; Chicken liver parfait and a ‘Seasonal crumble of the day’. Definitely try the monkfish with pancetta, mussels and wild garlic.
From the outside this looks like an ok pub but its much more than this and the locals are fully aware of what a gem this is! Most definitely worth a visit just outside of the city.
