Fuungi Ramen, Tokyo

Serving up some of the best tsukemen ramen in Tokyo

Serving up some of the best tsukemen ramen in Tokyo

Millie Wilson

During a recent trip to Tokyo I'd been recommended a ramen restaurant in the trendy Shibuya area. I had heard there were only a small number of covers so be prepared to queue in the street but had hoped this wouldn't be the case. True to the warning we were greeted with a sizeable line of locals all patiently waiting to get inside but decided to brave it and join them.
Upon getting inside it became clear you 'ordered' your food via a ticketed vending machine, which then issued tokens to give to the chef. There are only 4 ramen options so we decided on the special ramen and dipping ramen. Once 2 seats became available at the bar top seating area our food and drinks were served within minutes, so there's no hanging around!
The meal experience was very unique and the food itself absolutely delicious. Fuunji is a must try for anyone travelling to Tokyo and looking for a very well executed, authentic meal.
