Fishmarkadurrin, Iceland

The best of Icelandic local seafood

The best of Icelandic local seafood

Emily Atkin

Located in the centre of Reykjavik, in one of the city’s oldest buildings, Fishmarkadurrin is a world away from the rugged and rough perception of Iceland.
The inspiration and focus for the restaurant is on fresh, local and seasonal fish and meat cooked simply and with an Asian culinary twist; the outcome was exceptionally good! The food was feast for both eyes and taste. From Arctic char with dried cod powder and edamame puree,  Scallop nigiri and Volcano Maki sushi, to minke whale (a bit like venison) with horseradish, redcurrant and ginger soy. It was all delicious, beautifully presented and expertly explained to us.
Make sure you reserve as Fishmarkdurrin is a popular destination, which isn't surprising when you consider the service, the ambiance, the food and above all the ingenious food presentations.
